Dr. Andile Nontso
He is a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader who holds a PhD in education from Walter Sisulu University. He has attended several research seminars hosted by Walter Sisulu University for postgraduate research students. Dr. Andile Nontso is the author of three published books, namely:
- The Life and Times of Dr. Andile Nontso: A narration of his journey from growing up in the rural areas of Eastern Cape to education and entrepreneurship.
- Lessons in Golf, Business, and Social Benefits: Although he regards himself as an amateur golfer, he started playing golf more than fifteen years ago at Mthatha Country Club.
Dr. Nontso’s business associates piqued his interest in golf by occasionally tossing in golf balls and golf clubs during their conversations. Curious, he questioned them about their experiences. That’s when they revealed that the golf course is not all about the teeing ground and putting green that consists of cups. Additionally, the golf course serves as an excellent venue for business networking during a four-hour round of golf or for socialising over a shared meal. In his book he also addresses the misconception that golf is an acronym for “gentlemen only, ladies forbidden.” He says he will find great fulfillment if his book can reach a majority of women.
His passion for research is evident through his presentation on ‘The effect of unplanned departmental meetings on the academic performance of grade 12 learners in some districts of the Eastern Cape’ at the South African Society for Education conference. He has recently published his thesis in a book format entitled The Impact of Principals Workloads on Grade 12 Academic Performance in Eastern Cape Schools.
